About The Blog

My name is Ellie…

But you probably gathered that already. I grew up on a ranch in Washington state (Yeehaw) before I moved to Utah. When I realized I wasn’t a cowgirl anymore I had an identity crisis and I started rock climbing, which became my whole personality for a very. long. time. Since then I’ve expanded into a general lover of “the great outdoors” and I’m one of the many people in Utah state who adores the mountains here.

I created “Life With El” to be everything I wish I’d had when I started exploring Utah!

I HATE researching for trips. It’s my least favorite part. I’ve always been fairly successful at winging things, which has only reinforced my bad habit of flying by the seat of my pants.

You know what would have been cool? A website dedicated to lining out the outdoorsy adventures in Utah that are weekend friendly and affordable to full time college students. AND, if that website also happened to have packing lists, expected time investments, and a summary of expenses, sheesh, that would have been a big win. No thinking required, just pick a post to get all the info and hit the road.

Well you’re in luck because I made it happen 🙂

If you’re someone who loves crawling a million websites to research destinations, making budget calculations, and putting together packing lists, then don’t let me cramp your style. And congratulations, you are one unique individual!

BUT! If you’re like me and you like to have details and plans sorted out with as little effort as possible, you’re in the right place. Consider this site a resource for last minute trips. Got a free weekend all of a sudden? Visit this blog and get all the information you need to leave as quickly as you can pack your bags! I’m a fan of the concept, what about you?

Expect diverse destinations!

As I travel more, you’ll see my categories expand to include lake destinations, red rock road trips, hot springs, and more. I’ll also include trips to Idaho and surrounding states. Aaaand some maybe not so surrounding states…(View my first posts for tips on how to travel to Hawaii on a student budget)!

I have a feeling this summer is gonna be good 🙂

Sincerely,

Ellie 🙂
